Spirit AeroSystems array of complimentary textile technologies includes polar weaving techniques which have been applied in industry for such applications as carbon-carbon brake pads, low di-electric radomes and aircraft engine containment. Spirit AeroSystems proprietary stitching process is capable of reinforcing complex preform geometries and fiber orientations not feasible with traditional 3D weaving and braiding processes. Spirit AeroSystems based yarn manufacturing facility provides a domestic supply base for engineered yarns used in legacy and next generation C-C material systems for hypersonic applications.
