Centers of Excellence in Hard and Soft Metal Machine Fabrication

Spirit recently expanded its already sizable fabrications business with the acquisition of Bombardier facilities in Belfast, a new five-axis center of excellence located at the company’s headquarters in Wichita, Kansas, and the 3- and 4-axis center of excellence in McAlester, Oklahoma. Wichita is also home to one of the world’s largest automated chemical-processing lines.

5-axis machining: Spirit offers extensive hard-metal capabilities and complex high-speed machining for fuselage, pylon and wing structures, including aluminum fabrication up to 23 feet and seat track machining in this 20,000-square-foot facility.

3- and 4-axis machining: Spirit offers a range of hard-metal capabilities and multi-spindle machines to deliver customers quality manufactured parts with industry-leading cycle times and optimized costs.

Skin Fabrication

​With some of the largest tanks in the industry, Spirit’s skin fabrication processes include skin stretch forming up to 1,500 tons, laser scribe, trim and drill and chemical milling.
