Corporate Grants

Spirit is committed to partnering with our local communities. Spirit AeroSystems supports programs in the areas of growing, helping, and connecting people.

Community needs often outpace Spirit’s ability to meet them. As a result, we must be strategic in what we support. We typically provide grants to nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that serve communities where we have a business presence.

Spirit considers contributions to organizations that:

  • Are registered as a nonprofit, nongovernmental, civic or education organization that comply with local tax laws
  • Demonstrate leadership, evidence of impact, financial soundness and the capacity to implement initiatives and evaluate their success
  • Align with Spirit’s principles around diversity and inclusion
  • Engage Spirit employees and leverage their expertise
  • Have clear objectives, indicators of success and a plan to measure and report on the outcomes
  • Provide opportunities to collaborate with others (e.g., other government, civil society or industry partners) working to solve local issues

Spirit typically does not support:

  • Organizations without 501(c)3 status or the equivalent in-country charitable status
  • Capital campaigns/capital expenditures and endowment campaigns
  • General operational support
  • Religious groups for religious purposes
  • Lobbying/political organizations for political purposes
  • Amateur athletic groups
  • Disease-related causes, medical research or hospitals
  • Individuals or individual needs, including school projects
  • Travel, advertising, publications, films or television programming
  • Sponsorship, fundraising or special events (walks, runs, camps, competitions, etc.)

Schools, Colleges and Universities

U.S. organizations need a 501(c)(3)-qualified tax ID number or NCES ID (K-12 schools/districts) to apply.

Individual K–12 schools must provide both their NCES district ID (seven digits) and school ID (five digits).

Most public U.S. universities or colleges will need to apply using the tax ID for their 501(c)(3) charitable foundation or development office.

Universities, colleges and school districts filing under a U.S. 501(c)(3) should use financial information included in their 990 Form filed with the IRS. If a non-501(c)(3) public organization files for a grant, only fill out relevant portions of the application.
