People Transform Aerospace: Global Employee Highlights from 2023

People power innovations and move aerospace forward because of who they are and what they do. We’re incredibly fortunate to work with some of the best in the business. And with the calendar year coming to a close, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on and celebrate what some of our employees accomplished in 2023.

We’ve gathered a snapshot of people, perspectives and events. Through embodying the Spirit mission, supporting our veterans, mentoring the next generation, and volunteering in our communities, our people are creating a world led with collaboration, transparency and inspiration. Enjoy this sampling of your coworkers from around the globe!

Living Spirit’s mission around the world

How do employees embody Spirit’s mission in their day-to-day lives? Whether you work in production, supply chain or defense—and everywhere in between—you make inventing, designing and building what’s best in aerospace possible. You’re a vital partner in moving the world forward.

Ellis Dunnachie, apprentice at our Prestwick site, believes Spirit is able “to design and invent what’s going to be the best in aerospace through our Aerospace Innovation Centre.” While Liow Shiwei, design manager at our Malaysia site, says what makes the work fun “is being able to work with a team around the globe.”

Supporting U.S. veterans and reservists through SkillBridge

U.S. veterans and reservists have a lot to offer as they transition into civilian careers. Many of them just need extra support transferring their skills to showcase their qualifications and accomplishments. The SkillBridge program, which Spirit joined in 2023, is designed to do just that—help service members transfer what they’ve learned through on-the-job training and experience, with the potential to get hired at the companies where they’re working.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for military members to start moving into the civilian world,” Eric Hinkley, a defense quality manager, said of his experience in SkillBridge.

Eric along with Chris Mosley and Drew Wilson share their experiences in the program.

Thank you for your service and all that you, with the rest of our veteran and reservist employees, offer!

Inspiring STEM students at the Prestwick Airport

Working to inspire the next generation is an important task to undertake. And no team is better equipped to do so than the one that celebrated STEM Week at Prestwick Airport. From talking about careers in aerospace to making paper airplanes, the Spirit team shared their expertise with students and had fun along the way. The event led up to the International Ayrshow, where another group represented Spirit at the company’s stand in the STEM marquee.

Celebrating the work and commitment of volunteers from across the globe

People who contribute and give back to their communities is in part what makes those communities thrive. Our employees have created a strong culture of getting involved and giving back, so we celebrated a handful of our outstanding volunteers who make a difference around the world during National Volunteer Week.

Carrying the excitement into 2024

People are how innovation happens. You push the boundaries of what’s possible and create the future. We look forward to seeing what all you accomplish in 2024.
