Spirit Issues Statement on FY2020 Federal Appropriations Bills

WICHITA, Kan., Sept. 16, 2019 – Spirit AeroSystems [NYSE: SPR] issued the following statement upon the Senate Appropriations Committee’s passage of the FY2020 Department of Defense Appropriations Act and Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

“We appreciate Senator Moran’s leadership working to secure critical federal funding that helps ensure our Armed Services have the resources and technology necessary to defend U.S. interests around the globe,” said Spirit AeroSystems President and CEO Tom Gentile. “Funding priorities included in the bills create opportunities for Spirit and industry partners, such as the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University, to support important national priorities.

“Senator Moran is not only working to secure funding for programs that benefit Kansas interests, but he has also hosted dozens of senior military and NASA leaders in Wichita to showcase our region’s powerhouse of research and technology capabilities and expertise at rapidly industrializing advanced materials. As Spirit expands its defense business, we look forward to participating in strategic national priorities championed by Senator Moran and our congressional delegation.”
