An Open Letter to Our Employees

As you are aware, we officially opened contract discussions with the International Association of Machinists (IAM) on May 1.

We believe it is important to be transparent during the negotiations, while respecting the IAM’s right to be informed of Spirit’s positions on issues prior to updating you.  We will not bypass your Union, nor will we bargain through the media. We believe you are entitled to be informed throughout the process.

Spirit is committed to bargaining in good faith as we look to reward our employees with a competitive and fair contract.  

  • Negotiations can be challenging, but that does not mean there has to be conflict. Our negotiation process is built on mutual respect.
  • We want to work together with your IAM bargaining committee to reach an agreement that meets your needs and protects the future for all of us.

Ultimately, it is your choice. You will have the opportunity to vote on the final proposal. 

  • Your vote is important, as you will be voting on the terms and conditions of your employment.
  • How you vote is a matter of personal choice and we encourage you to think about it carefully.
  • We urge you to stay informed and do what you feel is in the best interests of you and your family.
