A Letter to IAM-Represented Employees

As you prepare to vote on Spirit’s Best and Final Offer, I realize that you have a lot to think about for you and your family.

As negotiations began in May, Spirit stated our objective was to reward you with a fair and competitive offer. To do that, our bargaining committee listened to the IAM bargaining committee and specifically addressed what the committee told us were your priorities:

  • Competitive Wages – We created a financial package that will increase pay 34% over the length of the contract.
  • Annual Cost of Living Adjustment – We propose to roll COLA annually into your base wages, with an increased cap of 2.5%.
  • Health Care Plans – Existing Core and Enhanced coverage remains the same with cost modifications created in partnership with the IAM.
  • Overtime – Overtime on Sunday will be strictly voluntary, enhancing current overtime practices. Other overtime policies related to Saturday, including consecutive weekends and limits on hours, remain in place. As we continue to stabilize our factories, we intend to minimize the amount of overtime needed.

The offer also includes $7,500 in ratification bonuses, if accepted on this initial vote.

Your IAM negotiating committee has endorsed this offer. We invite you to compare it with other recent IAM aerospace / industrial offers and believe you will find that it compares favorably. Considering our current financial challenges, we feel strongly that this is a generous offer that lives up to our commitment to be fair and competitive.

I encourage you to vote tomorrow and make your voice heard.  I further encourage you to cast your vote based on your personal choice of what is best for you and your family.

Together, we can continue building what’s best in aerospace as we emerge from four challenging years.
