Grandma Schmidt's Peanut Butter Cake

Ingredients (please include quantities/weights)
- 2 c. flour
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp.soda
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ c. oil
- 1 ½ sticks of margarine
- 1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
- 1 c. water
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- ½ c. buttermilk
Icing:
- ½ c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 T. margarine
- 1 c. peanut butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Instructions/Steps
- Mix flour, sugar, soda, & salt.
- Set aside. Mix oil, margarine, peanut butter, & water together.
- Bring to a boil & pour over dry ingredients.
- Add eggs, vanilla & butter milk.
- Pour into greased 1 X 11 X 15 inch metal pan (approx.).
- Bake @ 350 X 20-25 min.
- For the icing, bring to boil: milk, sugar, margarine.
- Cook X 2 min.
- Add peanut butter & vanilla.
- Pour over the cake.

This recipe originated from the Mennonite community around Newton, Kansas. It is my favorite recipe from my grandma, Elfrieda Schmidt.
