Ingredients (please include quantities/weights)
Cake
- 1-1/4 Cup Flour
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
- 3/4 Cup Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Butter (melted)
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 1 Egg, beaten
- 3 tbsp. Chopped Pecans
- 3 tbsp. Shredded Coconut
Chocolate Syrup
- 1 square of unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 2/3 Cup Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Butter
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 1 Pie Crust pastry
Instructions/Steps
Mix all of the cake ingredients in a bowl. Pour the cake batter in pastry lined pie plate.
Chocolate syrup:
Place the chocolate square and water in a saucepan. Stirring constantly, heat until the chocolate is melted and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla, stirring until blended and let cool to lukewarm.
Pour the chocolate mixture over the cake batter and sprinkle with nuts and coconut.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes.
Preparation Tips / Special Notes
The chocolate mixture will sink to the bottom of the cake creating a fudge layer between the cake and pie crust.
Best enjoyed with a glass of milk.
