Near Miss Madness Back for Year Two

A Spirit team is prepping for our Second Annual Near Miss Madness to reinforce the absolute need for safety in our factories.

Near Miss Madness 2023 is scheduled to run from April 1 to April 30.

And this time, we are taking it internationally.

Near Miss Madness was a smashing in 2022. We drove the reporting of Near Misses and Good Catches.

Spirit sites will again compete to report near misses, unsafe conditions, and at-risk behaviors in 2023. The idea came from one of Board Member Pat Shanahan, who had held a similar contest when he was at Boeing.

In 2022, our Spirit Maine team prevailed with 648 near misses submitted by 86% of the workforce.

Overall, we had over 1,500 near misses submitted during Near Miss Madness compared to a high for an entire year of 699 in 2019.

Near miss reporting is the framework for our employees to directly report issues and concerns that have the potential to cause injury, harm or damage to equipment or property. 

Reporting and correcting near misses is an important element of maintaining a safe work environment. Increased vigilance among our employees by continuing to look out for any health and safety issues and concerns is a priority.
