Youth Apprenticeship

Each year, through the Workforce Alliance Youth Employment Project, Spirit AeroSystems offers high school students the opportunity to catch a vision of what modern aerospace manufacturing is all about. 

Who: 16 and 17 year olds entering their Junior or Senior year that are interested in advanced manufacturing

What: Students in this paid program ($12 hour) receive practical and applicable insight into sheet metal and composites assembly, fabrication, machining, manufacturing engineering, and quality inspection.

When: June 5th – July 30th 7:00 am – 3:30pm (off July 3rd)

Where: Spirit AeroSystems 3801 S Oliver St, Wichita, KS 67210

Why: Upon completion of the program, students are encouraged to enroll in, or continue, the Aviation Pathway Career and Technical Education courses at their local high school. Upon completion of the Aviation Pathway, students will receive the required certification(s) and a guaranteed interview. This can lead to a full-time position with Spirit upon turning 18 and high school graduation.
