On June 17, 2019, at the 53rd Annual Paris Air Show, Spirit unveiled a full-scale demonstration fuselage panel that uses its proprietary ASTRA (advanced structures technology and revolutionary architecture) technology. Integrated sheet stringer design improves cost and reduces weight, and non-vented bladders and foam fillers improve the overall quality of the structure. The ASTRA panel demonstrates Spirit’s holistic approach to product design and manufacturing, which enables the reduction of non-recurring costs by up to 40% and recurring costs by up to 30%.
