Spirit announces opening of new repair station in Prestwick

harmsbcaptionWelcome to our latest issue of “Spirit in the Sky”… and the last one for 2008! It has certainly been a productive and busy year for us, and we value all our good friends and customers. To all of you, we offer a hearty thanks and a warm wish for the very best during the upcoming holiday season.

One of 2008’s accomplishments we are particularly proud of is the global expansion of our MRO service center network. This year, we have:

  • expanded our Wichita service center
  • signed a joint venture agreement for an Asia-Pacific repair facility and broke ground on this state-of-the-art facility
  • certified and opened our new Prestwick, Scotland, service center

We are excited to have the skilled team members of Spirit Europe join the ACS repair network! We know 2009 will be another opportunity for us to continue to grow and expand our business.

mcmanus133captionSpirit in Prestwick may be the latest addition to the Spirit MRO family, but the team who work in the repair station brings with them many years of experience of working with aircraft assemblies. It’s this experience, combined with an enthusiasm for coming up with solutions for customers, that will ensure that the Prestwick Repair Station enjoys the same great reputation that Spirit’s Wichita Repair Station has.

Customers place a massive amount of trust with us when they ask us to repair their products, and with that trust comes a high level of responsibility. As a whole business, Spirit thrives on responsibility. We make sure that we deliver on our promises, whether that be in new product programs, design and engineering or in maintenance, repair and overhaul.

Being responsible for the Spirit Europe Repair Station means keeping our new customers happy and making sure that our potential customers really understand the reputation and heritage of the people at Spirit Europe who are dedicated to working on their components.

Along with the festivities, Prestwick’s own drum and bagpipe brigade marched out to greet all the guests at the opening ceremony. The Prestwick facility obtained its EASA certificate in late August on a first time pass. The repair station team has been fully trained by our Wichita technicians to perform complex contoured metal and composite repairs for thrust reversers and nacelles on all the Boeing programs and is ready to take on the 737NG and 777 overheat service bulletin activity.  Prestwick is a vital link to Spirit’s MRO strategy in reaching its European customers.

Spirit Repair Station network provides services worldwide
Spirit AeroSystems repair stations in Wichita, Kan., and Prestwick, Scotland, perform specialty repair work on Boeing airplanes with complex composite thrust reverser assemblies. Spirit has recently completed, or has in work, (38) 737NG and (4) 777RR T800 thrust reverser overheat service bulletin inspections and modifications.
