In our previous newsletters, we have stressed the importance of relationships and how they are an integral part of total customer satisfaction. I would like to touch on another issue that is just as important to customer satisfaction, the quality of our products.
As you are aware, Spirit’s Aftermarket Customer Support organization offers thousands of replacement parts for sale. We pride ourselves in delivering quality products and have taken numerous steps to ensure our products meet or exceed the quality standards you expect. The parts we offer to you are manufactured using exactly the same manufacturing and quality processes we use to produce parts supplied to our O.E.M. customers. The manufacturing process begins with a thorough review of the requirements identified on the FAA approved Type Design.
These requirements are defined on production orders by our Manufacturing Engineers and include inspection operations at critical points in the manufacturing processes. These inspections are performed by qualified Quality Assurance personnel and include, but are not limited to:
- Detailed dimensional inspections of the product using certified equipment.
- Hardness and conductivity inspections of the production material.
- Non-destructive inspections when required.
- Functional Tests when required.
- Reviews of the protective finishing process and inspections of the finish application.
Prior to shipment, the parts are again inspected and an 8130-3 Airworthiness Approval Tag is supplied by our FAA Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representatives.
Spirit’s Quality Management System has been certified by Det Norske Veritas, an accredited third party registrar and we are confident that this system will provide you with quality hardware that will ensure “Total Customer Satisfaction.”

MRO News
Spirit AeroSystems Aftermarket Customer Support has announced its participation in an Asia/Pacific joint venture partnership with HAECO and TAECO. Additional partners are First Wave MRO Inc., Cathay Pacific Airways, and China Airlines. The new partnership is establishing a state-of-the-art MRO facility for composite and metal bond components near TAECO's airframe maintenance facility in Xiamen, China.

Air Europa -- Spirit has secured a 737NG Exchange Program with Air Europa to perform overheat service bulletin inspections and modifications, repair damage and overhaul 737NG thrust reversers.
737NG Overheat Service Bulletin update -- Spirit continues to support the Overheat Service Bulletin issued on 737NG thrust reversers. To date, Spirit has repaired more than 28 thrust reverser halves at its Wichita repair station, and more are in work.
Spirit AeroSystems announced in February at the Singapore Airshow that it was awarded the contract to overhaul the Cathay Pacific fleet of 777 Trent 800 thrust reversers. (Read the news release.)
