Spirit graduates 2017 college intern class

Nearly 80 college students took advantage of Spirit’s 2017 Summer Internship Program, which wrapped up in August. With majors ranging from business administration to economics to computer science to mechanical engineering, Spirit’s 2017 intern class came from 21 universities across the nation.

Interns were placed with Spirit managers who led teams related to their specific areas of study to provide the opportunity to gain valuable experience, further develop their skills and learn more about their chosen fields. Each intern was provided with structured learning objectives, training opportunities and project plans for their time at Spirit. Students were also provided with a number of professional and social networking opportunities with their fellow interns as well as with members of Spirit’s leadership team.

In addition to the benefits gained by students, Spirit’s internship program benefits the company by embracing students’ unique thoughts and perspectives and enabling Spirit to create further interest in aerospace career paths and develop future talent pipelines.

Of the 80 individuals who completed Spirit’s summer program, nearly half received direct or contingent offers for full-time employment, received an offer to complete a second internship with the company or converted to co-op opportunities for the Fall school semester.
