Spirit employees presented a check to the Wichita Salvation Army for the Tools for School program on August 3.

The gift included $8,000 in school supplies and more than 400 backpacks. The school supplies were donated by Spirit employees to help Wichita/Sedgwick County children have the necessary tools they need for the 2016-2017 school year.

“It is an honor to represent Spirit AeroSystems employees in presenting The Salvation Army with this donation,” said Vic McMullen, vice president and general manager of operations at Spirit AeroSystems. “I continue to be amazed at how generously Spirit employees give of their time and treasure. Spirit is proud to support the Tools for School program and help equip the children in our community with the tools to be successful in class.”

Major Joseph Wheeler, Wichita City Commander, expressed his appreciation to Spirit AeroSystems for their support of children and families who are facing financial difficulties.

“This donation allows us to provide new school supplies and help the students and teachers start off the new school year right.”
