For the second year in a row, Spirit AeroSystems was named to DiversityInc’s list of Noteworthy Companies for Diversity. Coleen Tabor, Spirit’s director for Talent and Diversity accepted the recognition on behalf of the company at an event on May 2.
DiversityInc uses an annual survey to track companies’ success in hiring, retaining and promoting women, minorities, people with disabilities, LGBT and veterans. Spirit’s recognition as a Noteworthy Company is based on responses to questions in four key areas: talent pipeline, talent development, leadership accountability and supplier diversity.
“Spirit continues to invest in creating an all-inclusive environment, where employees of all backgrounds and experiences are given the opportunity to make positive contributions to the company and excel in their chosen fields,” said Tabor. “We are honored to again be recognized by DiversityInc for our achievements and continued progress.”
The DiversityInc Top 50 list, issued yearly since 2001, recognizes the nation’s top companies for diversity and inclusion management. Companies with more than 1,000 U.S.-based employees are eligible to participate in the survey, and their rank is based on an objective analysis to their responses to the 300-question survey.
“There are simply not enough qualified people to hire. A company’s ability to find the best and brightest, advance and retain them equitably is a decisive competitive advantage,” notes Luke Visconti, founder and CEO of DiversityInc.
“Spirit places a lot of emphasis on growing a diverse workforce,” Tabor said. “We recognize and fully appreciate the unique qualities of our employees and the tremendous value they bring to our business. This is critical to ensuring our long-term success and establishing Spirit as a trusted partner to our customers, shareholders and communities.”
