Even though Spirit is not owned by, or affiliated with Boeing, through a licensing agreement with Boeing, Spirit is able to manufacture and supply spare parts. The parts are manufactured in the same facility and to the same standards as they have been for decades. This agreement allows us to use detailed engineering design for a number of specific commercial aircraft replacement parts (see list under “Products”). The agreement enables us to obtain Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) for the replacement spare parts on that list. The first FAA PMA was issued Nov. 7, 2005, authorizing Spirit AeroSystems to manufacture licensed PMA parts under our own FAA-approved quality system, and to distribute them directly to our operator customers. We are constantly adding to our list of approved parts in order to provide the perfect solution for many of your spart supply challenges.
