Our Tulsa Aerostructures unit produces more than 15,000 pounds of structure for every 747 that is built. The fixed leading-edge wing components, bulkheads and pressure floor have been produced at our Tulsa site since 1962.

Leading-edge Slats

In Tulsa, we produce composite floor beams unique to the 777. We also make the leading-edge slats for that program here on our moving line.

787 Wing Leading Edges – two major components Fixed Leading Edge (FLE) and Moveable Leading Edge (MLE).
FLE first delivery was October 2006; MLE first delivery was March 2007; Relative size is FLE 2200 part numbers; MLE 1400 PN. Total weight is FLE 1780#; MLE 1450#; components are aluminum, TI, carbon-reinforced fiberglass plastic (CRFP); BMI. Lightweight, first-composite MLE-slats for commercial aircraft; unique electronically heated for wing ice protection system.

Government Products
AeroStructures has a rich history with space programs, including designing and building the advance composite payload bay doors for NASA’s space shuttle orbiters, and producing the “Z-One” truss assembly and long spacer for the international space station. Recent programs include the AC-130U Gunship, J-UCAS (Joint Unmanned Combat Air System) and the AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System).

Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS)
AeroStructures refurbishes and paints unserviceable AWACS radomes and returns them to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. Large, complex, multi-layered honeycomb fiberglass structures with unique, robotically applied external coatings.

AC-130U Gunship
Modification of four “green” C-130s into AC130U Gunships by providing sheet metal, machining, structural, bond and composite assemblies.

Joint Unmanned Combat Air System (J-UCAS)
Fabrication of the Fuselage/Wing Edges and other bonded structures.
